The Come Back to Bethesda Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show began in 1990 when Dave Dabney of Chevy Chase Chevyland, and Chris Renshaw of Text Design sat in the parking lot of Dub's Pizza on Rockville Pike sharing a pizza and brainstorming about a car show to raise funds for the new Children's Inn at NIH. They decided to hold the show on the same day as "Taste of Bethesda," an event that now attracts approximately 30,000 people, the first Saturday in October each year.
Now celebrating its 17th year, the show includes "Family Day" in its title with fun activities for the whole family. Over the years it has attracted NASCAR celebrities, International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) world champions, and car and truck owners from all over the DC Metropolitan area. The show has grown to attract more and more local businesses and recently expanded registration to motorcycle owners. All proceeds from the event go to The Children's Inn at NIH, a "place like home" for children and their families who face serious illness. |
